Last year, the SLO County Planning Commission had a big decision to make regarding the proposed Oster/Las Pilitas Rock Quarry and how it would affect Highway 58 and the town of Santa Margarita. Margarita Proud, a grassroots effort of concerned citizens who are dedicated to retaining the rural character and livability of Santa Margarita, were fighting to deny the project. In order to increase awareness and fund-raise for their cause, Margarita Proud held several events where they sold pint glasses with their logo. These pints glasses were sold for $10 and included two drink tickets. Not only did this money pay for the glass itself, but the additional funds went toward other marketing materials, and it acted as a long lasting reminder of the efforts of the group.
